IMSI/Design Company Information
|
IMSI/Design, LLC, a private company headquartered in Novato, CA, is the global leader in retail CAD (Computer Aided Design). IMSI/Design products include the award-winning TurboCAD®, TurboFLOORPLAN™, TurboSketch™, and DesignCAD™ families of precision design applications.
Originally named International Microcomputer Software, Inc., the company was founded in 1983 by Bob Mayer as a publisher of popular graphics software such as PC Paintbrush and Dr. Halo. IMSI branched into the precision drawing marketplace with TurboCAD in the late 80's and FloorPlan and DesignCAD in the early 90's. IMSI/Design, LLC was formed in 2006 when an investor group led by software industry veteran Royal Farros purchased the precision drawing group from Broadcaster, Inc. (formerly known as IMSI). Look to IMSI/Design to bring leadership to new, innovative areas of CAD, such as support for the exploding metaverse and popular platforms such as AutoCAD.

Royal Farros, Chairman and CEO
|
Previously, Royal co-founded and was CEO of MessageCast, Inc., sold to Microsoft (NASD:MSFT) in 2005, founded and was CEO of iPrint.com (taken public in 2000 and merged with 12th largest promotional products company in U.S. in 2001), was an Officer and General Manager at Deluxe Corporation (NYSE:DLX), and was Chairman and EVP of T/Maker Company (sold to Deluxe Corporation in 1994).
A San Jose Business Journal Entrepreneur of the Year award winner, Royal is widely interviewed and quoted, has appeared numerous times on CNBC, Silicon Spin, and other financial and high tech venues, has guest lectured at both Stanford Graduate School of Business and Stanford Law School, and holds multiple patents for online desktop publishing/manufacturing process work.
Royal received a B.S. degree (1981) and a M.S. degree (1983) in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University.

Robert Mayer, Chief Operating Officer
|
Bob co-founded IMSI in 1983 and has been involved in the publishing and development of CAD and graphics software since then. Bob helped take IMSI, now Broadcaster (BCAS.OB) public in 1988 and served on its board for much of his 23 year tenure there. While at IMSI, he built the company’s direct marketing and international sales departments and oversaw product development.
Bob received a B.A. degree (1976) in Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a M.S. degree (1979) in Fisheries Biology from the University of Washington.

John L. Bunce, Jr.

Jack is a Founder and Managing Director of Greyhawk and he serves as a Senior Advisor to Hellman & Friedman, LLC ("H&F"), a private equity firm based in San Francisco. Prior to founding Greyhawk in 2006, Jack was a Managing Director and member of the Investment and Executive Committees of H&F. Jack began his work at H&F in 1988 and was responsible for investments with a cost of approximately $1.3 billion and a realized value in excess of $4.5 billion. Prior to joining H&F, Jack worked for TA Associates, a Boston venture capital firm, from 1984 to 1988 and for Lehman Brothers from 1980 to 1982. He has been a director of numerous private and public companies and currently serves as a director of Arch Capital Group, Ltd., NIC, Inc., several Greyhawk portfolio companies, and The Community School in Sun Valley, ID.
Jack received a B.A. degree in International Relations from Stanford University (1980) and an M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School (1984).

William C. Hovey
|
Will is a Founder and Managing Director of Greyhawk Capital Management.
Prior to founding Greyhawk in 2006, Will was an equity research analyst in the New York and London offices of Credit Suisse from 1995-2001. While at Credit Suisse, he covered major energy companies, and then IT Services companies, achieving a #1 ranking in the Reuters Portfolio Manager Survey and a #2 ranking in Institutional Investor. He started his career at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. in the firm's investment training program (1993-1995). On the industry side, Will has been the General Manager of Eye Safety Systems (2002-2003) and Direct Sales Manager at Smith Optics (2002). He currently serves as a director of three of Greyhawk's portfolio companies, IMSI/Design, Serra Energy Holdings, and Venga Ventures.
Will received a B.A. degree in American Civilization from Middlebury College (1991).

Andrew J. Preston, Jr.

Andrew has 25 years senior management experience in technology growth companies with responsibility for all major functions including, sales, marketing, development, operations, and finance. He has been the CEO and or president of two public companies and six private venture backed companies and has negotiated and managed the sale of three companies to large public companies.
Andrew has extensive sales and marketing experience in consumer Internet, enterprise software and services as well as consumer software and hardware. He has built traditional and newly emerging consumer channels, including the Internet, network and affinity marketing and has created and managed new brands, expanded consumer and installed base awareness of existing brands and developed successful joint ventures and business alliances.
Andrew received a B.S. degree in Business and Economics from Lehigh University (1976) and received a M.B.A. degree from Stanford University (1982).
